Now with 100% more just one spot per artist on the frontpage.

Fixes/Features in this release:
- New look (sort of)
- Now only 1 spot / artist on the frontpage (requested by: many)
- Increased caching efficiency (requested by: Me)
- Many small fixes. Mainly for mods
- A super secret feature that only a few have access to :)

  • Verify your account (click the email link)
  • Sign in, Go to your profile and press the “Sign up for artist status” link.

The following things were fixed in this release.

128: Lost password functionality(Scribe)

Fixed by implementing the reset password thing.

130: Galleries(planned)

Implemented a gallery system.

133: View user favorites(scribe)

Added a link to the “latest favorites” widget

137: Browsing: Link to next/prev month(planned,several)

Added a link to next and previous month

138: Avatars link to profile(several)

The avatars in comments now link to profiles of the users.

139: Avatars in oneliner(me)

Avatars are now visible in the oneliner.

119: inbox message profile link doesn’t work(several)

Fixed a problem with the way the link was being created.

+ several small fixes in layout

  • Users are no longer signed off after ~72 hours even though you are active
  • Added a max file size to prevent people uploading files sized 5mb and leeching all the bandwidth by themselves

That should also mean the signup process for artists will be “done” and open to the public.

Besides the signup process, we’ve got the issue of a mirror.  Not just for art but also for other files such as css files and the likes. This mirror system will probably be in place somewhere this week. The intention is to use a Geo-IP database to figure out where the visitor is from and send users to the right mirror.

Finally the moment is getting closer, and closer. I’m inviting several people into the closed beta over the weekend. After that the sign-up process will probably go on referral basis.

Everybody will be able to look around though. Just posting comments, uploading new art is going to be done by people with actual accounts ;)

So I guess its time to give you a bit of an update on what it does :) (after the break)

- Editing your profile
- Inbox (notifications)
- Favoriting art
- Oneliner
- Comments
- Tagcloud
- Latest Art (on the frontpage)
- Featured Art
- Browsing art by day/month etc.
- Notice and takedown procedure
- Terms of service
- Privacy statement

Things to be fixed before beta:
- Tidy up some css stuff for IE8
- Admin panel
- Get all “text” pages set up.
- Page editor
- Signup process(invite key system)
- Artist approval

So apart from me yapping on about what is going to be in tarobly2 itself I thought I’d tease with the picture on the top left ;) With this you can keep up to date with your favorite artist’s posts and your inbox.

I caught not only the flu in the last month but also something that can only be described as the mother of all colds. Ergo the lack of updates…. Recovering now though….

I’m prototyping as fast as I possibly can concidering the lack of spare time I have.

Stuff i’m still working on :

  • Approval process
  • Search/Browsing
  • Tagcloud
  • Event system (when you do something, tiny robotic hamsters go and order,sort, tag and inspect your pictures, stories and other stuff to see what action needs to be taken)
  • Distributed storage that is easy to set up by anybody with a server able to run php 5.3
